Book Review: Leviathan Wakes

Oh yeah! Now this is science fiction I've been needing! Part detective novel, part military science fiction, part horror novel - Leviathan Wakes is really three story lines that blend together perfectly for a fantastic adventure.

After a surprisingly brutal attack on his asteroid mining ship, James Holden finds himself Captain of a small, intimate crew suddenly in possession both of a small state-of-art combat ship and a terrible secret... oh, and when it comes to secrets, Jim Holden tends to have a big mouth.

Detective Miller of the asteroid space station Ceres, on the trail of a missing girl, soon finds he's not quite the ace detective he thought he was, but insists on seeing his case through to the bittersweet end.

And that missing girl? She too discovered a secret while trying to avoid being thrown out an airlock. That secret? Results in the death of millions in quite a gruesome manner worthy of the Alien franchise.

All these elements blend together in an excellent start to a new series that I'm drooling with anticipation to continue reading.

I like this book so much, I'm even going to link you to wallpapers of the cover art, and the publisher's page for the book.

Leviathan Wakes (Expanse #1) was provided to me by the publisher for review, and will be on shelves June 2, 2011.
